Our Story

Soucie Salo has a rich legacy in Northern Ontario, rooted in safety and service. Founded in 1955 in Sudbury, Ontario, Soucie Salo began as a retailer of work boots and clothing for industrial workers. Over the decades, the company has evolved into a full-line distributor of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety services—a one-stop shop for getting workers onto a worksite and keeping them safe on the job.

The company expanded its footprint with locations in Val Caron and Timmins in 2001 and 2011, respectively. In 2017, Soucie Salo entered a strategic partnership with Source Atlantic, a near-national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operations supplies. This move allowed Soucie Salo to tap into broader supply chains while maintaining its local identity and leadership under Pat Heaphy.

Beyond product distribution, Soucie Salo offers a wide range of services, including respiratory fit testing, fall protection inspection, revalidation and rental, Draeger gas detection service and rentals, inventory management solutions, and customized hearing protection services.

1955 Company Founded as Soucie Phillips Supply Company and operated by two partners, Mr. Soucie and Mr. Phillips. Opened a location in Sudbury, Ontario. Offering a workwear and footwear.
1965 Wilf Salo replaced Phillips as partner and became Soucie Salo Limited.
1988 Don Heaphy and Paul Villgren purchased Soucie Salo Limited and formed Soucie Salo Safety Inc.
1989 Moved from DeMorest St to Hazel Street, Sudbury, Ontario.
1998 Moved to a new location on Lorne Street, Sudbury, Ontario.
2011 Opened a new Soucie Salo Safety location in Val Caron, Ontario.
2017 Soucie Salo Safety Inc. purchased by Source Atlantic Limited.
2018 Moved to a new location on Riverside Drive, Timmins, Ontario.
2024 Rebranded to Soucie Salo to align with expansion into Industrial MRO supply and service.
2024 Source Atlantic Limited purchased by Lawson Products Canada, a subsidiary of Distributions Solutions Group (DSG).
